Ou Keng-Liang, who transitioned from academia to the industry, served as the Dean of the School of Dentistry at Taipei Medical University. During his tenure, he sought support from prominent figures in the biomedical field to raise funds for the reconstruction of the school building. An encounter with Diamond Biotech Chairman Lu Kong-Ming during fundraising proved pivotal. Lu encouraged him to venture into entrepreneurship, stating, "If the team succeeds in entrepreneurship, building several more buildings in the future won't be an issue." With the support of Diamond Biotech, Ou Keng-Liang decided to embark on a new journey in running a business.

Having experienced both academia and the industry, Ou Keng-Liang observes that "industry seeks consensus, while academia seeks differences." Research focuses on discovering and verifying various changes, while industrial services emphasize gathering consensus so that companies can progress. He emphasizes the importance of aligning regulations before products are developed, reducing the gap between research and application.

Discussing the challenges facing Taiwan's biotech industry, Ou Keng-Liang notes the small domestic market size, lengthy product certification times due to regulations, and the need for clinical trials in each country where a product is sold. Despite these challenges, he is optimistic about the government's assistance in helping Taiwanese companies enter the international market.

Looking toward the future, Ou Keng-Liang states that 3D Global biotech is based on three core elements: venture capital, technology, and clinical verification. In the short to medium term, the focus is on developing medical devices and generating revenue. Long-term planning involves continued product development, laying the foundation for international market expansion.

In recent years, Taiwan's biotech industry has grown rapidly, gaining international recognition for its innovative research and development. Ou Keng-Liang encourages aspiring entrepreneurs in the biotech industry to first understand regulations to chart the company's development path. Learning financial management and cultivating a business's financial concept are equally crucial, requiring a rigorous attitude. Additionally, recognizing the importance of establishing a "core value" for the company is vital for sustained investment in resources and costs.

Ou Keng-Liang concludes by expressing humility and emphasizing the importance of dedication and focus in any role, whether in research or business. He advises future researchers to have perseverance and a clear direction for their work to contribute to both academia and industry.
